“Chill, life is what you make of it” August 24, 2006

Have you ever noticed a child who is dramatic about a “booboo”? Have you ever heard the parent say: “it’s not that bad, we’ll just clean in up and it’ll be fine.” If you have, you will have noticed that the child goes from yelling and balling, to simply trying to catch his breath between the sniffs. Attitude is everything. We choose how we see and we react to certain situations. Unfortunately, most people choose drama in their life, it makes them feel alive, including me. And admit it, it happens to you too.

For some reason I can’t explain (not right now anyway), choosing to view situations negatively attracts more negativity. When something starts going wrong, it seems like suddenly everything in our life goes wrong. We create that. When things are going well, we think it’s too good to be true, it won’t last. That attitude makes things shift. Then we say: “I knew it couldn’t last, I was right”. Being “right” makes us feel worthy. Then after months or even years of everything going wrong, we get tired of it and things start happening again. And the cycle starts again.

Right now, everything is going right in my life and I have to fight everyday to keep a good attitude and not tell myself that it can’t last. It’s like fighting a war.
