… is the tagline for the movie Snow Cake.
I just came back this afternoon from a business trip in Moncton, New Brunswick. I got to watch a movie on the plane. It’s pretty cool, all seats had an individual screen from which you can choose what to watch from an extensive list of movies — including Canadian films. I chose to watch Snow Cake and I sure was not disappointed.
Synopsis: A man (Alan Rickman) is traumatized after a car accident kills Vivienne (Emily Hampshire), whom he was giving a lift home. He develops a friendship with Vivienne’s mother (Sigourney Weaver), a high functioning autistic woman.
The film is extremely well written and both Rickman and Weaver’s performances were riveting. A must see!
Peepshow - One Word: WOW! December 1, 2006

I accompanied Nancy to Peepshow at the NAC last night… thank you SO much Nancy! The show was amazing. All we kept saying on the way out was “wow, that was good”. I was trying to describe it and the only thing I would end up saying is “that was perfect”. For me to say that, the show was pretty fudgin’ good (I have kids, I would not swear).
Anyway, Peepshow is a one-woman show (in French) written, directed and performed by Marie Brassard. I recommend you all go see it. Don’t expect to read more about it in this post, I just can’t find the words to describe it.
My show starts tonight!!! And it’s sold out!!! November 10, 2006

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am about to vomit. Ahhh, that wonderful feeling before a performance. The day I stop feeling that way is the day I stop acting. I love working at this theatre. The people are wonderful. We have so much fun, we play gags on each other all the time on stage. It’s Vaudeville, which I really enjoy.
My show is in French and there is a lot of dialogue, so if you don’t understand French, I suggest you skip this one.
So here are the details:

“L’audition” — An Amazing Movie! October 2, 2006

I don’t often watch Quebec productions, but this one I couldn’t resist. After hearing it call my name a few times at the video rental, I picked it up and watched it. I was amazed!
Luc Picard wrote, directed and starred in “L’audition“. He is a genious. The movie keeps surprising over and over, and all the while teaching life lessons you can take away with you.
I was personally touched by Louis, the lead character, who has always dreamed of becoming an actor but never took that leap. The emotions he conveyed around that dream were compelling. It was like looking into a mirror.
All I can say is: watch it!!! It’s captivating.
