Great Quote From Helen Keller December 21, 2006

An acting colleague just sent this quote, I just had to share it with the world. I needed that, especially now:

Security is mostly a superstition.  It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.  Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.  Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.  To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presense of fate is strength undefeatable.”

What’s really cool is that Helen Keller actually lived this way. Long before it was considered “normal” for disabled people to have lives as integral parts of the community, she was doing it. Fear is just a state of mind that we create to keep ourselves from taking the next step forward.

I have a feeling that most physically or mentally challenged people enjoy life much more than people with no disabilities. We often think they are less fortunate, but we also often don’t appreciate what we have and stress ourselves out for little things.
