I just came back this afternoon from a business trip in Moncton, New Brunswick. I got to watch a movie on the plane. It’s pretty cool, all seats had an individual screen from which you can choose what to watch from an extensive list of movies — including Canadian films. I chose to watch Snow Cake and I sure was not disappointed.
Synopsis: A man (Alan Rickman) is traumatized after a car accident kills Vivienne (Emily Hampshire), whom he was giving a lift home. He develops a friendship with Vivienne’s mother (Sigourney Weaver), a high functioning autistic woman.
The film is extremely well written and both Rickman and Weaver’s performances were riveting. A must see!

I’ll have to check this one out … I think the title is really coo. My mom is a one-on-one aide in a high school and has worked with a few kids with autism and Asperger’s. Too often, people just write someone off because they’re not “normal” or “typical”. Too bad; we miss a lot by doing this, and we’re all guilty at some times.
What a terrifying (read incredibly important and wise) premise… how hard it sometimes is to STOP….it takes a ton more courage then to go go go… I’m not sure I’m up for it today… but so glad you have brought it into my conscioussness… thank you!
